Best Future Design Award – Shortlisted Mosque 2024

As many of you know, Quba Masjid has been a cornerstone for worship and community service for many years. Our prayer
facilities currently serve over 1,300 attendees for Friday prayers and as many as 2,500 during peak times. The demand for space,
particularly during Ramadan and Eid, where over 10,000 congregants attend our special prayers, is overwhelming. In
addition, our Madrasah continues to educate over 500 students with limited space, and our community services are reaching
more people than ever.

This project is not just about adding more space; it is about enhancing the range of services we offer. The new extension
will allow us to:

Accommodate more worshippers: With larger prayer halls for men and women, ensuring that no one has to miss out on Friday prayers or special occasions like Ramadan and Eid due to lack of space.

Expand educational services: Our Madrasah and educational programmes will benefit from additional classrooms, allowing us to enroll more students and offer even more tailored courses, from Islamic studies to enrichment classes in core academic subjects.

Increase community outreach: With more space, we will be able to host additional counselling sessions, workshops, and family support services, continuing our mission to provide holistic care to those in need, from administrative support to mental health and social services.

Enhance youth engagement: The expansion will include dedicated areas for youth activities, where young people can feel safe, build friendships, and gain valuable life skills through mentorship and educational programmes.

Improve facilities for wider community use: Our conference and seminar rooms, already a popular venue for community events, will be expanded to host larger gatherings and provide better facilities for weddings, meetings, and other events.

Quba Masjid has always been a hub of activity, unity, and spiritual growth for our community. This extension will allow us to continue fulfilling our mission of serving the spiritual, educational, and social needs of the Muslim community for many years to come.
