East London Mosque Shortlisted – Best Mosque COVID Response 2020

The East London Mosque, which incorporates the London Muslim Centre and the Maryam Centre, has a rich history, with roots in the London Mosque Fund established in 1910. It has gone on to become one of the most active Islamic institutions in Britain. The ELM provided regular services to the community during the pandemic for the elderly and those in need with food banks and drop offs.
The ELM has played an important role in supporting the community of Tower Hamlets in the east end of London, especially in supporting bereaving families and providing speedy funeral services during the pandemic.
